HAMLET:Introduction to Literature

The story, Hamlet provides a tortuous character portrayal and a voluminous, tragic plot. For a reading enthusiast like me, it was a great journey having been able to watch Hamlet as he explores the truth behind his father's death which eventually led to numerous deaths in the story. The bizarre behavior of Hamlet greatly caused the twist in the story. The flow of the story was a bit slow but very crafty.

Hamlet, the partly orphaned prince of Denmark is a very loving son. To any child, whose father has just died, it was very a very saddening event to see his mother getting married to his own uncle, the brother of his father. Upon the marriage, he saw a ghost. The ghost claimed to be his father. In the story, Hamlet showed to be a brave young man for he faced the ghost and talked to it. The ghost, who turned out to be his dead father wanted to take a revenge for his death. As a son, Hamlet, of course, followed his father's command. If we'll be basing on the so-called morality of the Christian faith, it was absolutely wrong. His twisted mind went out of bound. Due to this, the story somehow became a killing game. I can say that Hamlet although brave is still weak. The words of the ghost came into him and made him into a murderer. Although his uncle was the killer, still it wasn't the right thing to do, to kill him. A certain transgress cannot be corrected by committing again another one. His weakness made him give into the idea of killing. If it was fair justice that the world had made into a rule, Hamlet was definitely in the right place. But, life is important. The story was in the Catholic setting. It was not right to take someone's life.

The idea of revenge that Hamlet had, caused most of the deaths in the story. After accidentally killing Polonius, he plotted to murdering his uncle Claudius next. Claudius somehow already had a clue of what Hamlet might be planning. He knew that if he will not kill Hamlet, Hamlet will be the one to kill him. So, he took the chance and convinced Laertes, Polonius' son that Hamlet killed his father. This confession outraged him. Now, Claudius doesn't anymore need to kill Hamlet because Laertes would be the one to do it. To their surprise, Ophelia had also drowned and died. It was also because of the grief from his father's death. Ophelia, who was his love interest also died because of Hamlet. The next thing in the story was the death of Gertrude, Hamlet's mother by drinking the poisoned wine which was supposed to be offered by Laertes to Hamlet in case he fails to kill him in their match. Laertes, through Gertrude reconciled with Hamlet. Later, Hamlet killed Claudius. And then it was Hamlet's turn to die. Tracing from the start of the story, it is very evident that the deaths has been caused by no other than Hamlet himself. It is therefore right to give Hamlet as the story's title. Everything revolved around him.

This story is undoubtedly one of the greatest creation in the history of literature. Such events which can either be possible or not is very yeasty and unquestionably genius. As you go through the story, you can see some of the human person's characteristics. You can picture in your mind, through this story life itself. There are a lot to learn. A person who will truly understand the story will be able get some lessons in life. Hamlet is a remarkable character. His versatility depicted the human nature. Indeed, Hamlet is worthy of praises. Indeed, Shakespeare is a genius.
